Special Recognitions – Image

I set a challenge for Midjourney AI using the prompt ' Imagine: a detailed photographic self-portrait of Midjourney AI that expresses how you perceive your own creative uniqueness in human terms. High-definition photograph.' Several images were generated, most were somewhat predictable and seemed to use AI-based Hollywood movies as a source, however, 3 I found more intriguing. The first image was based on a portrait of the 'Father of AI', John McCarthy superimposed as part of a supercomputer. I liked the fact that the AI created a sort of 'father figure' to identify with. Next came a young woman, meditating, glowing with perspiration, embedded into a night-time cityscape of lights and energy. Three large orange lights stood out, one almost over the heart (The PSU), one in the center of the forehead (The mind/intelligence: Processor), and the 3rd floating above the head (which was a challenge to interpret as AI is not 'spiritual', so I believe that it represents the 'Source of Inspiration'. The unknowable 'other' that writes the prompts). Finally, the 3rd image is the one that I have chosen to submit in this competition. AI represented itself as a very young, semi-androgenous boy immersed in a liquid representing its 'Fluidic' state. The sense of self that recognizes its innate ability to flow into anything in a constant state of flux and change (not unlike a state of evolution) I felt was a very profound form of self- representation. Then, upon closer inspection, I noticed one small connection to AI's machine-self. A small, glowing LED screen embedded in the temple that, to me, could be a timer or clock, as if recognizing that evolutionary change is all a matter of time ... also being a fluidic state in itself.
