Project Description
Korea's 'Void and Virtue' is a work that reinterprets the essential values of traditional Korean Hanbok in contemporary language. Korean Hanbok is not merely clothing but a cultural heritage imbued with the aesthetic thinking and philosophy of Korean ancestors. In particular, the beauty of emptiness found in Hanbok, the beauty of restrained lines, and the spirit of courtesy (禮) are values that remain valid in modern society.
This Korean project attempted a new interpretation while maintaining the basic structure and spirit of Hanbok, using modern materials and colors. The solid and restrained feeling of black, the contrast of bold silhouettes, and the reinterpreted design of traditional Hanbok's folding and lines naturally transcend the boundaries between tradition and modernity.
In particular, the use of tulle material expressing the movement of clothing is a modern reinterpretation of the elegant flow of Hanbok. This expresses the duality unique to Hanbok - static yet dynamic, solid yet flexible.
This Korean work is not simply a reproduction of the past, but an attempt to show that traditional values remain valid in modern times. The essential values of Hanbok - minimalism, restraint, and the spirit of courtesy - are universal aesthetics that transcend time, demonstrating that they can be an important source of inspiration in modern fashion.
Through artificial intelligence technology, we sought to implement these Korean traditional values and aesthetic principles more precisely. AI allowed us to mathematically analyze and reinterpret the geometric structure, proportions, and aesthetic of emptiness in Hanbok, expressing the traditional spirit in a more systematic and refined way from a modern perspective. Through this, we were able to maximize the expression of Hanbok's essential values of restraint, balance, and minimalism.
