Project Description
"7S - The Mask of Sin" is my creative exploration of the Seven (7) Deadly Sins, reimagined through fragmented masks that reflect the gradual consumption of the person behind them. The idea is that each sin is not only something worn, but something that starts to take over, leaving a visible impact on the individual.
I chose a realistic portrait style to keep the human element clear and relatable. The faces, expressions, and intricate details are key to preserving the essence of each person. In combination with a surrealistic approach, the masks become exaggerated symbols of the sins—blurring the line between the real and the imagined, showing how the sins overwhelm and distort the individual.
This series connects these ancient sins to modern challenges:
- Gluttony, reflects overconsumption and waste in a world of abundance,
- Greed, mirrors the relentless pursuit of wealth and power,
- Sloth embodies apathy and disengagement in an overstimulated society,
- Wrath captures the anger and hostility often amplified by online platforms,
- Envy represents the comparison culture and jealousy fueled by social media,
- Lust explores the hypersexualization and commodification of relationships, and
- Pride highlights the obsession with self-image, status, and validation in the age of influencers.
