Director's Note:
With "The Bound," we explore the universal themes of vulnerability and growth within the backdrop of three distinct historical periods. The film portrays human vulnerability not as a weakness, but as a powerful intersection where opposing forces meet. Centered on the journey of women in each era, it examines how vulnerability becomes a source of courage amidst change and uncertainty. Through the protagonist's choices, the film depicts humanity’s resilience in confronting external challenges, embodying both the progressive spirit of women who rise against their environments and the capacity of humans to embrace uncertainty as a catalyst for transformation.

We often perceive vulnerability as a weakness, but The Bound describes it as a powerful intersection where opposing concepts meet. The reason vulnerability is thought to be a strong point of convergence rather than a weakness is that it reveals the fundamental duality of human experience. Vulnerability entails fear and pain, but it is also the starting point for true love, growth, and human connection. Ultimately, vulnerability is not so much a weakness as it is one of the most essential aspects of the human experience, serving as a powerful force that allows us to embrace both the pain and joy of life, change, and connect with others.
