We Heard of You

We Heard of You is a visual poem series that traces five untranslatable words across cultures — not to define them, but to listen to their emotional resonance. Each piece begins with a word that defies direct translation — Dépaysement, Forelsket, Goya, Iktsuarpok, Toska, Shinrin-youku — and unfolds through an AI-assisted visual process. Generative algorithms are used not for automation, but to translate feeling into form: color palettes, density, and composition are all guided by the cultural and psychological texture embedded within each word. The project treats AI as a collaborator — a silent co-creator that reacts to language and emotion through gesture, texture, and abstraction. What emerges is a series of atmospheric spaces where the unspeakable becomes visible — a terrain not of definition, but of perception. We Heard of You is a quiet reply to every word that doesn’t exist in many languages, but lingers within us — soft, vivid, and universally understood.
