Unimpossible Bestiary

In Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll, there is a scene that has always fascinated me: in the final banquet, small bottles with saucer wings and fork legs, illustrated by John Tenniel, fly about like animated creatures. These improbable beings reveal a world where objects seem to have forgotten their functions and begin to acquire gestures, instincts, impulses of living creatures. A world where ordinary things become entangled, unfold, as if dreaming up new bodies. I created a series of AI-generated images inspired by these beings. My intention was to investigate how such creatures transform as they pass through the mirror of time and technology. What happens when the Victorian imagination encounters the tools of the present? What can still evoke a sense of strangeness in a time when everything seems possible — and therefore risks becoming predictable? These images are part of the search for the desimpossible: forms that defy logic, common sense, and good taste, that slip away from fixed categories and whisper of worlds yet to be invented. In the creative process, I embrace risk, mistakes, imperfection, and the unfinished. It is in that space between form and metamorphosis that these creatures spread their crooked wings and suggest other ways of imagining.
