The Unremembering
NOTHUMEN · Saudi Arabia
Conceptual & Fine Art
The Unremembering is a visual exploration of Alzheimer’s disease — the "forgotten illness" that erases memory, identity, and connection. Born from the intimate observation of aging hands, faces, and keepsakes, the project transforms everyday objects and portraits into dissolving forms of dust and shadow. Photographs unravel, trophies fade into fibers, and faces blur into voids — metaphors for memories thinning at the edges. This body of work confronts the silent terror of losing oneself while still being present: a grandfather who no longer recognizes his children, a grandmother who holds on to objects while forgetting their meaning. It is both a personal and universal story, reminding us that memory is fragile and identity is not guaranteed. Through AI-assisted visual storytelling, The Unremembering becomes a tribute to those who vanish into forgetting — and a call to remember them while we still can.
