Context & intent: In Koura, Lebanon, where olives shape economy, landscape, and ritual, the project reconverts a constellation of old Lebanese stone houses into a single public pavilion. The ambition is not to freeze heritage but to activate it: stone becomes structure, memory, and acoustic mass; glass becomes light, threshold, and contemporary identity. Concept idea: The core move is an atrium of olive-green light: laminated glass planes wrap and stitch the ruins, creating a continuous interior promenade. The preserved stone oil press stands on a minimal plinth beneath a chandelier inspired by a drop of olive oil heritage recast as centerpiece rather than backdrop. Material & light: Vernacular limestone is stabilized and left legible; new insertions are monolithic olive-green laminated glass with bronze details and polished limestone floors. Daylight enters as a filtered, liquid glow, producing a calm commercial-museum atmosphere suitable for exhibition and hospitality. The project models a scalable method of reconversion for rural Lebanese contexts: stitching fragments, dignifying craft, and creating year round cultural economy, transforming Koura’s olive legacy into living architecture. DESCRIPTION: An adaptive-reuse project that stitches a constellation of vernacular limestone houses into a single public pavilion. Within monolithic olive-green laminated-glass volumes, preserved arches and a historic stone olive-oil press are re-staged as structure and narrative.
