The Blue Bird Journey

The Blue Bird Journey: Art, Therapy, and Imagination The Blue Bird, written by Maurice Maeterlinck in 1908, tells the story of two children, Tyltyl and Mytyl, who are given a magical hat by the Fairy Briluna, allowing them to see the true essence of things. Guided by this gift, they pass through invisible portals, such as the Gates of Night, where they encounter the souls of Dreams, Shadows, and Emotions, in search of the Blue Bird — a symbol of happiness that, in the end, they discover was beside them all along. Inspired by this narrative, I created an adaptation to support a journey of art therapy focused on self-discovery, using Midjourney v6 to generate images in a surrealist, symbolist, and fantasy style. In this approach, the Blue Bird is not a prize to be captured, but a call to rediscover what already lives within our memory and soul. The magical hat that reveals the essence of things becomes a symbol of the inner vision cultivated throughout the journey. Since childhood, this story has resonated within me as an awakening to invisible worlds and the wisdom of dreams. The journey invites participants to explore internal landscapes — gardens of childhood, labyrinths of shadow, spaces of wonder — where each artistic gesture becomes a seed for new flights. We do not seek to capture the Blue Bird, but to learn to fly with it: to recognize the hidden beauty in everyday life and the vastness that opens when we learn to see with the heart.
