Spring in Qipao 旗袍之春
Rakotoniaina Antsa Fandresena aka Eagle · France
Characters & Animation
Spring in Qipao is a poetic tribute to Eagle’s journey through China. It captures how warmly she was welcomed, the friendships she built, and the cultural gems she uncovered—especially children’s stories that left a lasting impression on her. It’s a celebration of renewal, connection, and curiosity, all wrapped in a springtime dream. Note from the Creator: This work marks the beginning of my journey as an AI filmmaker—where culture meets creativity, and curiosity becomes the compass. In a globalized world, cultural literacy isn’t optional. It’s the foundation for building deeper, more meaningful connections. That’s why my work stands on a three-pillar structure: Culture. Curiosity. Creativity. I chose to begin with China—not just because I’ve always been fascinated by its mythology, aesthetics, and stories—but because I believe this country will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology. After living there, I can confidently say: the future is already here—just not evenly distributed. This project also reflects my long-term desire to be an active contributor in education and cultural storytelling. One of the driving forces behind China’s rapid development is its sustained investment in education—and while no system is perfect, there’s much to learn from their discipline and vision. 🌏 My dream is to build a cultural bridge between China and my home country, Madagascar, to foster a new generation that values identity, knowledge, and creative innovation.
I wrote a behind-the-scenes article about what inspired this AI movie on my blog on Substack: https://lionessandeagle.substack.com/p/bts-of-my-ai-short-film-how-chinese?r=25sf15
