“Necrosphere” created from “necro” (death) and “sphere” (planetary body or globe), is a conceptual art piece that portrays a dark and probable future of Earth. Unlike Saturn’s graceful rings, Earth’s orbit is now encircled by defunct satellites, rocket debris, and a thick halo of other non-recyclable human waste. Since the dawn of space exploration, the number of orbiting satellites has grown exponentially, highlighting humanity’s expanding footprint across both Earth and space. With the ozone layer depleted, the planet is left exposed to harmful solar radiation and has become uninhabitable. Aligned with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which addresses the escalating risks of climate collapse and ecological degradation,this work calls for a radical rethinking of our relationship with nature before the damage becomes irreparable.
