This video is a speculative documentary set in the year 2060, Genesis Lab, focusing on the mutated jellyfish PLASTRACUS, which has evolved by absorbing and restructuring microplastics at the cellular level. Through the observational frame of a marine genetics laboratory, the work visualizes how the jellyfish transforms its signals, outer membrane, and collective strategies into survival mechanisms. Rather than exaggerating the strangeness of mutation, this work translates resilience into the language of interdependence, habitat preservation, and dignity of life. By portraying a future where human debris becomes the very condition of survival, the project questions responsibility, ethics, and coexistence in the shared ocean.

This work intentionally adopts a “fake documentary” format to challenge how we perceive animals and environments—not as separate entities, but as part of one ecological destiny. PLASTRACUS is presented not as a bizarre anomaly, but as a translation of resilience and interdependence into visual language. AI here is not used to replicate reality, but to construct a persuasive vision of a future shaped by human debris. In doing so, the work highlights the ethical questions of coexistence and collective responsibility that extend beyond the screen.
