Can you share a bit about your background and how you first got interested in working with AI-generated art?

I actually work as a virtual assistant and social media manager, but my passion for photography has always been with me. When I generated my first AI image, I was immediately blown away. The ability to create visual art with just words fascinated me from the start. My journey into AI-generated art began with my deep love for nature, underwater and travel photography. For years, I tried to enhance my images using creative editing techniques, but often found the technical limits of traditional tools frustrating. Discovering AI felt like unlocking a new dimension of creativity, where I could merge my various interests and ideas to explore endless creative possibilities.

What were some of the challenges you faced when you first started using AI for your artwork?

When I first started working with AI, one of the biggest challenges was understanding how to prompt the system to produce the desired results. Early on, AI models didn’t support natural language as they do now, so I had to learn very specific and sometimes illogical terms to get the outcomes I envisioned. Each version of the AI introduced new changes, and with it, I had to adapt my approach, relearning what worked and what didn’t. This constant evolution of prompt techniques has been both a challenge and an excitement. The rapid progress of AI keeps me on my toes, always learning and adapting, which is part of the thrill of working in this ever-evolving space.

Do you see AI as a collaborator, a tool, or something else in your artistic process?

I view AI as a collaborator and a tool—almost like a creative assistant that helps bring my thoughts and ideas to life. It’s not just about producing images; it’s about working together, refining ideas, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. There are times when I work for weeks on a single piece, tweaking it until it aligns with my vision. But, like any creative process, there are moments when AI and I seem to disagree, and I have to find ways to bridge that gap. That tension, though, often leads to extraordinary results. It’s this dynamic partnership that makes the process so engaging and exciting.

Can you share an example where the AI created something unexpected that you ended up loving?

With AI-generated images, you never know what you’re going to get—it’s a bit like a box of chocolates. Each result is a surprise, and there are times when the outcome is completely different from what I initially envisioned. One example that stands out is my artwork called “Indian Ice” I had intended to create an ice cream cone with Indian elements, but what came out was a highly abstract portrait of a woman being draped in ice cream in a strange way. It’s very abstract, but I ended up loving it. I’m particularly drawn to the unconventional and unexpected in my work. Creating this image with traditional photography and Photoshop would have been incredibly complex. That’s why I love AI—it allows me to effortlessly bring these imaginative, intricate visions to life.

What does the future of your work look like with AI? Are you planning any new experiments?

The pace of development in AI is incredibly fast, and it’s almost impossible to keep up with every new innovation. However, I’m always curious and eager to try new things. A particularly exciting area right now is the creation of videos and AI fashion “shootings” with AI, as new possibilities seem to emerge almost daily. The future of AI seems to be moving toward more automation and faster creative results, but where exactly this journey will lead is anyone’s guess. It’s both exciting and a little unsettling to see how far the technology can go and what impact it will have on the world. Still, I will continue to push my own boundaries, experiment with new tools, and embrace the endless potential that AI offers for my artistic work.

As the AI art competition winner, Alex continues to push the limits of what’s possible, exploring new ways to merge creativity with AI innovation. Her journey is a powerful example of how technology is reshaping the art world, and we can’t wait to see where her work goes next.
